DeadGround
A 2D top-down arena shooter. Fight escalating waves of enemies, absorb the experience they drop, and choose one of three random upgrades every time you level up. Death is permanent. The build is the story: six starting weapons and forty-six upgrades, and a run you can describe afterwards in one sentence.

DownloadBefore you run it
- None of these builds is signed. They are exported by a build server with no signing identity, so the operating system will say it does not know where the file came from. That is expected of an unsigned build, not a sign of a broken one.
- Windows: SmartScreen will warn on the first run. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Linux: unzip, then
chmod +x dead-ground.x86_64if the executable bit did not survive the download, and run it from the folder you unzipped into. Thedata_Game_linuxbsd_x86_64folder beside it has to stay there. - macOS: not published yet. A bundle signed on the Linux build server is refused by the kernel, so a macOS build needs a Mac to sign it.
- Every build is a whole game rather than a patch, and runs from wherever you unzip it. Nothing is installed and nothing is written outside the game's own folder.
What a run is
- Fifteen to twenty-five minutes. Seven enemy archetypes with elites, five arenas, and a wave director that musters, releases and lulls rather than pouring a stream.
- Keyboard and mouse, or a gamepad. Single player, offline, no accounts.
- You will lose runs. Death returns you to the start, which is what makes the next card worth thinking about.
